“At this also my heart trembles,
And leaps from its place.
Listen closely to the thunder of His voice,
And the rumbling that goes out from His mouth.
Under the whole heaven He lets it loose,
And His lightning travels to the ends of the earth.
After it, a voice roars;
He thunders with His majestic voice,
And He does not restrain the lightning when
His voice is heard. God thunders wondrously with His voice, doing great things which we do not comprehend.
For to the snow He says, ‘Fall on the earth,’
And to the downpour and the rain, ‘Be strong.’
He seals the hand of every person,
So that all people may know His work.
JOB 37:1-14
Then the animal goes into its lair
And remains in its den.
From the south comes the storm,
And from the north wind the cold.
From the breath of God ice is made,
And the expanse of the waters is frozen.
He also loads the clouds with moisture;
He disperses the cloud of His lightning.
It changes direction, turning around by His guidance, that it may do whatever He commands it. On the face of the inhabited earth.
Whether for correction, or for His earth,
or for goodness, He causes it to happen.
Listen to this, Job…
Stand and
consider the wonders
of God.

Before depature, you'll take part in an intensive, week-long training called ROPES! It begins the day after ORU’s commencement and is a powerful time of final preparation, spiritual focus, and team-building.
Completion of ROPES is required for all students before heading to the field. After ROPES, you’ll have a day to rest and recharge — then it’s time to head to the nations!

the peaks.
Every trip has a PEAK ELEVATION,
which illustrates the height of cultural immersion expected on the trip.
-
Peak 1
Minimal cross-cultural engagement; shorter travel time; predominantly English-speaking ministry; mostly American-style food. If this is your first mission trip, Peak 1 is a great fit.
-
Peak 2
Moderate cross-cultural engagement; moderate travel time; predominately non-English speaking ministry; mix of American and non-American styles of food. If you want to grow in cross-cultural comfortability, Peak 2 is perfect.
-
Peak 3
Complete cross-cultural immersion; lengthy travel time; significant language differences; mostly non-American style food. If you want to be stretched out of your comfort zone in every area, Peak 3 is it.
-
Peak 4
Complete cross-cultural immersion; lengthy travel time; significant language differences; mostly non-American style food; harsher climate or more difficult living arrangements. If you are looking for a challenging experience, Peak 4 will grow you in every area.
One of the most incredible parts of
ORU Missions is all of our trips are STUDENT-LED!
Mission leaders are marked by their spiritual maturity, love for people, critical-thinking skills, and desire to grow. Leaders are selected after an interview process and receive specalized training throughout the fall and spring semesters. Consider applying for leadership if you have a heart for the nations and a desire to serve your fellow students!
Sophomore — Graduate Students are welcome to apply for leadership,
even if you haven’t been on an ORU Missions trip before.
